Playground

Whilst creating screenshots for you to visualise the progress we made with IPFS, a thought popped up…why not set up a playground so you can play around with IPFS yourself? And that’s just what we did!

First you need to understand some stuff before you jump in:

1. The playground runs on TESTNET so you’ll need to use your testnet address. If you don’t have one yet, create one at the playground.
2. As Lisk is working on their SDK, our full launch of Phantom has to be pushed back a bit. Therefore the “publish” function is disabled, as are the “Delegate storage”, “Domains” and “Bookmarks”. But you are able to fully control your IPFS directories and add files using our “IPFS Manager”. Just like you’re used to in your OS.
3. We have set up our own IPFS gateway which will be used to view your IPFS content.
   As an example, we created a basic HTML5 template for you:

4. The “Merkle root” on top of the IPFS manager is like a version number. You can for example paste the hash from the url above QmRm6bzVH7bebHCgjFu18cMNKsPMYyDcVR3u8Pp2RzgpMC and make changes to the Example blog post.
   When you save the change, you will get a new Merkle root hash on top and when you click View Gateway, you will see your new version.

Theft

Unfortunately it’s not all good news we bring. Three of our members saw their full wallet value getting transferred and dumped at the market. Yes, that big dump we all remember.

There has been al lot of investigating going on recently, in close contact with Bittrex. We are not going to publish the exact details here, for as long as this case is under official investigation. But what we did do is help those victims, by sending SHIFT from our own team wallet directly to them. It will take a lot of effort and time for us, to get the remaining funds back.
We think we can’t let them wait that long, and we would like to move on ourselves too.

New Github account

As many of you know we have been using a different (new) Github account. We changed from “shiftcurrency” to “shiftnrg“.
Please stop using the old account as it’s not updated.

The reason we changed is the same why the funds of our main wallet were transferred to a new wallet. Our team changed. With new members joining and former members leaving we needed to update our security.

Pool

Because there’s only room for 101 delegates in the network and we don’t expect anyone to be able to setup a delegate node, some people are not earning any SHIFT right now. To help you out, we set up a (POS - Proof of Stake) pool.

It’s really simple:

• You vote for the pool delegate with your own wallet.
• You will get a proportional share of the forging income of the “official_pool” delegate every day.
• You will get paid when your payout balance reaches 1 SHIFT.

In the newsletter of January, we told you about an upcoming migration to new chat software.

You first have to create an account though here. Or, when you already had an account on Slack, click on “Forgot Password?” at the login page.

We’re online at Ryver.com for a few weeks now and I think it’s safe to say: it was a success!
The Ryver applications work really fast, have a very clean look and their support desk replies within an hour (I sent them numerous e-mails when migrating and they always replied that fast!).

The main selling point of Ryver to us was: a complete message- and file history which was impossible at Slack.

F.A.Q.

Instead of giving an answer 100x in multiple channels, @seatrips had the idea of creating a F.A.Q.! So simple…but someone has to come up with it right? Immediately @seatrips and @jan started to work on one. It’s still work in progress, but you can follow our movements here: faq.shiftnrg.org
