Short introduction

Dear friends,

For a lot of you April seemed like a quiet month. At least, it was quiet in our chat rooms at Ryver…

However, less talk == more coding.

• We’ve been busy with compiling our own version of the IPFS daemon and API.
• We enabled signing an IPFS site with the Shift wallet.
• We worked on the first dApps and the SDK.
• Our network is now as stable as ever (a big thank you to the Lisk team)

dApps

Yes, that’s right. dApps are coming to Shift! We’re proud to present Phantom (IPFS) as a fully decentralized blockchain App. Before, Phantom was integrated in the wallet UI. It did cost us some extra time, but now Phantom runs standalone as a dApp as well.

We are near to provide you a dApp SDK, so soon you can start creating your own dapps with this amazing technology.
dApps that run on the Shift network are fully decentralized and run on their own sidechain so we can keep the main chain as clean as possible.

Installing dApps from the market is as simple as clicking a button. To spent SHIFT at a dApp you need to deposit tokens to the dApp sidechain. Of course you can always withdraw unspent SHIFT back to the main chain.

Now obviously you guys want us to go screaming release dates, right?
If we don’t encounter too big bumps in the road, we will release a first version of Phantom at the end of Q2 on testnet!!

Phantom

Porting Phantom to a dApp is not the only thing we did.
The past few months we invested in usability for the end user. The only thing you need to publish a website, is a wallet! That’s great, right?
And even better: you can publish websites with an existing TLD extension like .com, .net, .io, and many more. You just point your DNS to a Phantom gateway and the gateway delivers the website from any of the thousands of IPFS nodes in the world!

Mobile apps

We have our very own mobile app now for delegates to monitor their nodes.

Testnet

We are very happy with the members that help us test the new software. We cannot test everything ourselves, and sometimes we need at least 20 nodes for a test. Do you want to help too? Setup a testnet node as well! More information in channel +testnet.

New website

Our website needs a make over. New graphics, more information about Phantom and a lot more.
If you want to collaborate, feel free to contact @jan. We need all the help we can get. Collaboration is the key!
